Arthur L. Ruckle, 86, of Bloomsburg passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at the Maria Hall Hospice on April 17, 2012. Art was born May 2, 1925 in Bloomsburg, the son of the late Atwood Ruckle and Dora (Krum) Ruckle Mordan and step father, Orville Mordan. He was the devoted husband of Marie Fetzer Ruckle, whom he married on January 11, 1946. At the age of 17 Art joined the Navy. He proudly served his country during World War II as a combat sailor on the U.S. Navy LST512. He was employed by Joe McNeil as a painter for many years. He then worked for Wire Rope and later as a maintenance man for Kawneer for 18 years, retiring in 1987. Arthur was a deeply-devoted family man. He loved traveling with his wife and family. He was "Mr. Fix-it" and enjoyed helping others. As a husband, Dad, and "Po-Po", he was well-loved and admired. Surviving are his beloved wife of 66 years, Marie; his daughter, Connie Giger, and three sons: Stephen Ruckle and wife Emily; Randy Ruckle and wife Susan, and Tom Ruckle and wife Cindy all of Bloomsburg. Surviving are 7 grandchildren: Jeff Giger (Billie Jo), Jodi Houseknect (Clyde), Melissa Barron (Rob), Daniel Ruckle, Douglas Ruckle (Tara), Megan Cook (Sundar), and Kenneth Ruckle (Linda). Surviving also are 9 great grandchildren and two step-great grandchildren. Preceding him in death besides his parents are his granddaughter, Jan Ruckle; his brother, Harold Ruckle; his son-in-law John Giger and grandson by marriage, David Coombs. Graveside funeral services will be held at the New Rosemont Cemetery under the direction of the Rodger T. Bunnell Funeral Home 435 Market St. Bloomsburg with Rev. Dr. Joel Zeiders of St. Matthew Lutheran Church conducting the service on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at 1:00 pm. Flowers will be provided by the family.
