Betty Leighow Obituary

Betty Z. Leighow, formerly of 558 Jerseytown Rd. Millville, went with God on September 18, 2011. She was August 4, 1923 in Madison Township, a daughter of the late Frank B. and Edith C. Crawford Zarr. Betty graduated from Millville High School in 1942 and was a retiree of Northern Central Bank "now M&T" after many years of service. She was a member of the Mill-Green United Methodist Church formerly Millville United Methodist Church for more than 60 years. She spent 58 years in the Children's Department. She started and continued to work with the boys and girls as acolytes for many years. She was a life member of the Order of Eastern Starr #279 of Bloomsburg. She also served as Mother Advisor of the Rainbow Chapter and was awarded the Grand Cross of Colors. She was a long time member of the Women's Civic Club and filled many offices of the club. Those who preceded her in death were her husband Leonard in February 2007 after 60 years of marriage along with the following sisters and brothers: Venus Rishel, Ethel Parker, Ruth James, Phyllis Shade, Willard C. Zarr, Raymond E. Zarr, and Robert F. Zarr. She was the last of the immediate family. A number of nieces and nephews survive. Services will be Saturday at 10:00 am at the Mill-Green United Methodist Church, State St., Millville with her Pastor Richard Leonard officiating. Burial will be at Millville Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 9:00 am until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory to the Mill-Green United Methodist Church, Po Box 470, Millville, Pa 17846.
