Chauncey “Chip” Henrie, age 77, of Millville, died at his home with family by his side on March 8 after a battle with lung cancer. Born on December 9, 1947 in Bloomsburg, PA, Chauncey was the son of the late Charles H. Henrie, Jr. and Jane (Kauffman) Henrie.
Chauncey was a 1965 graduate of Millville High School, a US Army veteran enlisted from 1968 to 1971, and a long-time employee of PPL, retiring in 2011.
He enjoyed puzzles, collecting coins, and yard sales and loved to read, especially books by Clive Cussler and Isaac Asimov.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Ann (Galford), with whom he celebrated his 51st wedding anniversary on January 18. Also survived by his daughter, Sarah Henrie of Millville; son, James Henrie and wife Carol Goulet of Saint Paul, Minnesota; granddaughter, Vivienne Henrie of Saint Paul, Minnesota; brother John Henrie and wife MalSon, of Harlen, Georgia; sister Nancy Duttinger and husband Curt of Sunbury; aunt Mary (Kauffman) Laubach of Bloomsburg; and a number of nieces and nephews. Chauncey was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Charles “Chuck” Henrie III.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00am on March 22 at Elan Memorial Park in Bloomsburg with Pastor Robert Strozyk officiating.
