Chester Morris Girton, 81, of Danville, passed away October 12, 2012 at Nottingham Village in Northumberland. He was born July 7, 1931 in Bloomsburg, a son of the late Morris and Jane Walters Girton. He graduated from Bloomsburg High School in 1949 and then joined the United Sates Army and served as an MP during the Korean Conflict. He is a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Columbia Hill. He had worked at US. Radium and then the Dana Corporation of Berwick. He enjoyed fishing; hunting, camping and he just loved the outdoors. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter Julia and a brother Calvin. He is survived by his wife the former Betty J. Thomas with whom he married March 9, 1950, a son Ralph Girton and his wife Meral of Turkey, three daughters Deborah and her husband James Bardo of Bloomsburg, Brenda and her husband Lee Woodside of Danville and Linda and her husband James Stine of Bloomsburg, eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren and a brother Harold Girton and his wife Pat of Bloomsburg and two sisters Barb Morris of Bloomsburg and Beth Earnest of Michigan. Services will be Tuesday at 2:00 pm at Bunnell Funeral Home, Inc. 179 E. Main St. Millville, Pa with Pastor Robert Kerchoff and Pastor Allen Acor officiating. Burial will be at Straub's Cemetery.
