Chet C. Stackhouse, a cherished father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 86 on September 2, 2025, at his residence. Born on June 18, 1939, in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania, a son of the late Helen (Stackhouse) Bab.
He attended Sullivan County School. Chet's calling to serve led him to join the United States Air Force, where he proudly served from 1956 until 1960. After his honorable discharge from the Air Force, Chet embarked on a trucking career with several local companies before joining Consolidated Freight. His exceptional skills as a driver were evidenced by his remarkable achievement of over 2 million accident-free miles before his retirement.
Chet is survived by his two sons, Scott E. Stackhouse of Muncy and Dennis W. Stackhouse of Millville; three grandchildren, Seth, Belinda, and Cole Stackhouse; brother, Max Stackhouse of Hughesville, and sister Joanne Narber of Unityville.
Chet was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ola (Gardner) Stackhouse, who passed away on March 26, 2023 and his mother, Helen (Stackhouse) Bab.
Beyond his professional and military accomplishments, Chet was known for his love of the great outdoors. He found joy in fishing, camping, and traveling with his wife Ola.
Graveside services will be held Saturday September 13, 2025 at 11:00 am at Pine Summit Cemetery with Pastor Martin Parr officiating.
