Daniel "Dan" Reiner Obituary

“On my honor I will do my best To do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law; To help other people at all times; To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.”

Daniel Robert Reiner (Dan), of Millville, passed away on Feb. 13, 2023, (one day before his 90th birthday) surrounded by his loving family. Dan lived by the Boy Scout Oath throughout his life. He started scouting as a boy and continued through the Navy. A veteran, Dan served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. Dan was an example of how to put in a hard day’s work without complaining, how to keep going without quitting, and how to take life as it comes and make every day count. After moving to Millville, he became Cubmaster, then Scoutmaster, remaining active in scouting for over 75 vears and earning a lifetime achievement award.

Dan was a member of the Masonic Lodge for over 65 years, most recently Lodge 460. He was also a member of the Arthur Bardo American Legion Post 564 of Millville and the Millville Lions Club. Retiring from Verizon after 40 years working in various positions, he then enjoyed serving as Pine Township Supervisor for 12 years.

Dan loved his family, farming, fishing, and hunting. His hobbies included woodworking, stained glass, and gardening. The last five years, instead of corn, he grew over 30 varieties of dahlias.

In addition to his loving wife of over 60 years, Patricia Mae (Keck), Dan is survived by his six children: Rebecca R. Ezard, wife of Allen, Andrew P. Reiner, husband of Joyce, Mark D. Reiner, husband of Melissa, Jennifer L. Kile, wife of Mahlon, Matthew S. Reiner, husband of Jamie, and Amy J. Sterner, wife of Dave: 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

There are many reasons to be proud and thankful for Dan’s life, but the values he lived by are the best things he gave us. Per his wish. there will be no funeral services. To honor his memory, the family requests, “Just do a good deed for a young man“
