Dean Evans Obituary

Dean Edwin Evans, 94, passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at The Gardens in Millville. He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Barbara B Evans and his parents, William H and M. Araminta Evans and his brothers, Donald and Doyle.

He is survived by his children, Deborah E Karns and her husband Donald of Mechanicsburg, Gerry E Woolcock and her husband Gene of Doylestown, Amelia E Musselman and her husband Kenneth of Millville, Todd Evans and his wife Cathy of York and 9 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

Dean graduated from Benton High School, class of 1946.

Dean was a long time member of Millville United Methodist Church and could always be found in the kitchen at every social function. Dean and Barbara participated in mission activities traveling to Red Bird Mission in Kentucky.

He was also a member of the Caldwell Consistory,  Valley of Bloomsburg since 1957.

Dean was a hardworking, loyal employee at Bakers Economy Store and Locker Plant for 30 years. He competed in meat smoking and curing events through American Association of Meat Processors and won several awards.

After retiring from the meat packing business, Dean drove Millville School District  bus for 32 years, including, his favorite part, transporting the sports teams.

A more dedicated Phillies fan would be hard to find. He faithfully wore his Phillies hat and welcomed any opportunity to talk baseball.

Dean was a pillar of service in the Millville community. He was involved with the Millville Fire Company, Fire Police and carnival support. When the fire siren sounded, he jumped into action, directing traffic at the square and rarely did a night at the carnival pass without hearing “Dean Evans, ice needed at the church stand” or “ Dean Evans, needed at the hamburger stand”

Dean, Daddy Dean, was a kind, sweet man, a wonderful husband, father and grandfather  and will be greatly missed by his family and all who were privileged to call him a friend.
