Dr. William Guy Huntsman

Dr. William Guy Huntsman, 90, of Mechanicsburg, PA, went to be with the Lord on April 27, 2023, with his daughter by his side.

William (Bill) was born September 24, 1932, in Bedford, PA.  After high school Bill joined the United States Army.  He served from 1953-56 in Europe during the Korean War. Upon returning, he married his love, Irene, on June 16, 1956, at the Bloomsburg Glad Tidings Church.

Bill earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education in 1962 from Millersville State College and a Master’s in Education/Political Science in 1964 from Shippensburg State College.  He then went on to earn a Doctorate in Educational Administration in 1986 from Northern Arizona University. He taught all grades, was Department Chair in Benton Area School District, Benton PA; Assistant Principal at Shikellamy School District, Sunbury PA and Cartwright School District, Phoenix AZ; and Principal at the West Shore School District, Lemoyne PA before retiring from the Peoria Unified School District, Peoria AZ in 1995.

Bill and Irene resided in Millville, PA until 1970, Camp Hill, PA 1970-79, Phoenix, AZ 1979-2003 and Mechanicsburg, PA 2003-2022.  After Irene’s passing in 2022 Bill moved back to Phoenix to be closer to his daughter.

Bill enjoyed singing in the choir at the Phoenix First Assembly of God Church, now Dream City Church.  He loved working outside, gardening and always received compliments for his beautiful lawn with its lush, green grass.  He also liked reading, playing tennis and watching his favorite sports teams play although he never knew if he should cheer for the AZ team or the PA team when they played each other.

He is survived by his daughter Alicia Belle Huntsman Martin of Phoenix, AZ; Grandson Timothy William Martin (Alison) of Ashburn, VA; and 2 Great-Grandchildren Claire Martin and Jack Martin.  His cherished wife, Irene, parents William and Pearl Huntsman, and 4 brothers and 4 sisters have gone before him.

Bill, like his wife Irene, loved little dogs.  He would hold their Chihuahua for hours.  In lieu of flowers please donate to your favorite no-kill shelter to help make a difference.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 9, at 10:00 a.m. at Christian Life Assembly, 2645 Lisburn Road, Camp Hill, PAwith services at 11:00 a.m.  A second visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 10, at 9:00 a.m. at Bunnell Funeral Home Inc., 179 E. Main St., Millville, PA with services following graveside.
