E. Norene Carl, known as Renie to all that knew her, passed away February 6, 2022 in Raleigh, NC at the age of 93. She was the daughter of the late Wilbur E. Adams and Etta P. Miller. Born December 28, 1928 in Bloomsburg, PA and resided there her entire childhood.
She was a graduate of Bucknell University in Lewisburg, PA. Renie was married in 1950 to the late John H Carl, who passed away October 12, 2017. They moved to Madison, CT to settle down and start a family. In 2015, after residing there for 65 years they moved to Durham, NC to be near their daughter Robin.
There were numerous hobbies that Renie enjoyed including reading, sewing, tailoring, knitting and especially her beautiful needlework. Even in her eighties and into her nineties Renie knitted over 100 scarves for the needy.
She always was an active individual with The First Congregational Church in Madison, as well as groups and clubs within the Madison community. For all her years she was devoted to her family. If one would ask her if she might enjoy a scoop of ice cream, she would light up with her most beautiful beaming smile especially if it was chocolate chip. Prior to retirement Renie was employed as a bookkeeper by the Shore Line Times in Guilford, CT and by Soundings Publications in Essex, CT.
She is survived by her three daughters, Deborah and her husband Crawford Smith of Richmond, VA, Penny and her husband James Bzdak of Keene, NH and Robin and her husband Royce Dean of Durham, NC also a daughter-in-law Jo-Ann Carl of Tolland, MA. She is predeceased by her two sons John G. Carl and Douglas M. Carl. Also she is survived by 8 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be Thursday February 10, 2022 at 1:00 pm at New Rosemont Cemetery, Bloomsburg with Pastor Mike Spagnuolo officiating.
