Elena I. (Hinterliter) Spudes

Elena I. Spudes, 93, of Bloomsburg, passed away Saturday, April 6, 2013 at Geisinger-Bloomsburg Health Care Center. She was born November 11, 1919 in Nescopeck, a daughter of the late Frances and Lulu Harter Hinterliter. She graduated from the Dry Ridge School House. She was a cook for the Bloomsburg Moose for twenty years. She was a member of the Women of the Moose and St. Peter's Lutheran Church "Harger's" where she sang in the choir and was a member of the ladies aid. She enjoyed crocheting, crafts and flowers. She had a beautiful singing voice and loved to dance. She is well loved and known as Mom to many. She was preceded in death by her husband Peter Spudes who passed away in 1994 and two grandsons and a great grandson and a sister Helen Dunning. She is survived by two sons Wayne Spudes and his companion Linda Meckley of Catawissa, Carl Spudes and his wife Kathleen of Sunbury and three daughters Pearl and her husband Richard Broadt of Selinsgrove, Gale and her husband Robert Stewart of Bloomsburg and Sandra and her husband Anthony Insinga of Bloomsburg, thirteen grandchildren and twenty four great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. Services will be Thursday at 11:00 am at Rodger T. Bunnell Funeral Home 435 Market St. Bloomsburg with her Pastor Jennifer Kopacz officiating. Burial will be at Elan Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Wednesday at Rodger T. Bunnell Funeral Home from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Friends unable to attend may send condolences at bunnellfuneralhome.com.
