Frances Ruth Kemp

Frances Ruth Kemp, 99, of Bloomsburg died on December 3, 2023, at the Gardens of Millville. She had been in ill health since September.

Born in Bloomsburg on June 23, 1924, daughter of the late William and Hazel (Ohl) Boughter. She attended Bloomsburg High School. She worked at Magee Carpet Co from 1940 to 1945 in special rug department and weaving cartridge belts during World War II. Frances also worked at Milco Industries from 1956 to 1971 as a supervisor for 8 years, and at Geisinger from December 1, 1980, until April 1986.

She married Hurley Powlus Jr., from Bloomsburg who passed away in 1980. In 1985 she remarried Glen Kemp of Landsdale, PA.

Frances is survived by daughters Pamela Johnson husband Ed, Millville, Kay Mason of Florida, son Dean Powlus of Harrisburg, sister Vivian Gayeskie husband Tony of Camp Hill, PA, brother James Boughter wife Gail of Millville, New Jersey. As well as stepchildren Jane Staley of Arizona, and Rodney Kemp of Arizona.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands Hurley and Glen, brother William G. Boughter, sister Mildred Blass, and stepson Gary Kemp.
