Frances J (Girton) Steiner

Frances J. Steiner, 88, of Bloomsburg passed away Friday November 12, 2021 at her residence. She was born November 12, 1933 in Danville, a daughter of the late Melvin L. and Martha (Bitler) Girton.

She graduated from Bloomsburg High School in 1951 where she met her high school sweetheart Joseph whom she married March 14, 1953. They moved to Stuart, Florida for 10 years and returned to Bloomsburg and bought chrysanthemum farm where they operated their flower business for six years. Frances loved to stay fit by walking and swimming. She loved to talk to and catch up with her grandsons.

Frances is survived by two children: Joseph A. Steiner Jr. wife Susan of Millville, Sharon L. Acornley husband Dennis of Indianapolis, Indiana, two grandsons Palmer “PJ” Steiner of Millersville and Mitchell Steiner of Red Lodge, Montana. As well as five brothers; Richard Girton wife Arla, Kenneth Girton wife Charlotte, James Girton, Bill Girton wife Pat, and Gary Girton wife Hazel, and sister Mary Ann Dawson husband Jeff.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her husband Joseph Steiner who passed away March 28, 2006, brother Pete Girton, and sisters Patricia Benjamin and Darlene Kessler.

Graveside services will be Wednesday November 17, 2021 at New Rosemont Cemetery, Bloomsburg with Pastor Todd Davis officiating.
