Garry M. Bardo Sr. 82, of Sereno Hollow, passed away Monday, October 17, 2011 at his home. He was born August 12, 1929 in Greenwood Township, The youngest son of the late Cleveland Peter and Hanna Edith Johns Bardo. Garry served in the US Army training command and the Btry "B" 75th AAA Gun Bn from 1948-1951 when he was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant. He was employed at the former Magee Carpet Company, before becoming a full-time carpenter/cabinet maker for Sone's Lumber and later Nile's then Meyer's Lumber of Millville until 1979. He worked at Kawneer Inc. of Bloomsburg until he retired in 1993 when he retired from a supervisory position in the custom door department. As a father and grandfather he enjoyed teaching future generations his cooking and baking recipes and his love of the outdoors. Garry spent his retirement years crafting and repairing violins and cigar box instruments and caring for his garden. Neighbors, friends and family benefited from his generously shared music and garden produce. Known for his custom lathe work, in 1977 he designed and crafted the gazebo in Historic Eagles Mere. He was preceded in death by a son USAF Captain Garry M. Bardo Jr., brothers Maynard "Mike", Gilbert, Ryland and Cleveland "Junior" Bardo. He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Eleanor Louise Bitler Bardo, a daughter, Sally and her husband Benjamin Wagner of Red Lion, a son Stanley W. Bardo and his wife Tina, and a daughter-in-law Sue Utt Bardo Masana and her husband Joe Masana and six grandchildren Olga, Vladimir Wagner, Christopher, Kristen Bardo, Amanda and her husband AJ Schuster and Neil Bardo and his wife Shanda. Memorial service will be Friday at 11:00 am at Bunnell Funeral Home, Inc. 179 E. Main St. Millville with Pastor Brad Spangenburg officiating. Burial will be at Pine Center Cemetery.
