Gladys (Mattichak) Stavisky

It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Gladys Mattichak Stavisky, friend and family to many. She lived a long vibrant life that ended with congestive heart failure at age 90. 

Gladys was born to Rose Opishinski and Nicholas Mattichak, in Lopez Pennsylvania on May 6, 1934.  She survived all of her siblings; Eva, George, William, Joseph, Teresa, Steve, Vera, Helen, Leo, Lillian, and David being the youngest in the family.  

Gladys leaves behind her brothers-in-law Mike Stavisky and his wife Bonnie of Montoursville and John Stavisky and his wife Anne of Webster, NY along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.    She married the love of her life, Joseph Stavisky, at the end of WWII and they were true soul-mates for life.  Gladys now joins Joe in Heaven after deeply missing him for the last five years.   They had no children. 

Gladys and Joe spent the majority of their lives in Pompton Lakes, New Jersey. In retirement they returned to Pennsylvania, to enjoy being closer to family in Orangeville, Millville and later in Bloomsburg, where she passed on March 7th, 2025.  

Gladys and Joe found a welcoming religious family at the Christian Church near their home in Millville.

Services will be Friday March 14, 2025 at noon at the Bunnell Funeral Home Inc., 179 E. Main St., Millville with Pastor Mark Messner officiating. Burial will follow at Millville Cemetery alongside Joe. Family will receive friends from 11:00 am until time of service at the funeral home.

The family would also like to thank the staff of Brookdale Senior Living, Bloomsburg.  The entire team always went the extra mile to care for both Gladys and Joe, night and day and to make their last days in a loving environment
