Harold Art Sweeney

Harold (Art) Sweeney, 91, of Millville passed away April 1, 2021 after a short stay at the Gardens at Millville. Art had been in ill health for several months. He was born October 16, 1929 in Greenwood Township, the son of the late Lawrence and Sarah (Bardo) Sweeney. Along with his parents he was preceded in death his first wife Naomi (Belcher) Sweeney with whom he operated several businesses in the Millville area including the Quakerette, and sister Marcia Bardo.

Arts early years were spent living and working on his uncle Ray Bardos farm. He then was drafted into the Army and spent basic training at Fort Knox Ky. He was then stationed in California as a radio operator.  After the Army, Art worked at Magee Carpet Co. plus owning and operating several of his own businesses. He sold Mutual of Omaha Insurance for many years. He was also the caretaker of some properties in the Central - Elk Grove area including the Brass Pelican. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and going to church services with his wife Mae at the Emmanuel Baptist Church.

Art is survived by his wife of 27 years, Mae (Harvey) Sweeney, sister Ruth Elaine Harvey, brother Scott Sweeney and wife Norma, sister-in-law Helen Boudman, sister-in-law Evelyn Carr, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday April 7th 2021 at 11:00 am at the Emanuel Baptist Church, 1314 Route 254  Millville, with his pastor, Rev. Micah Felber officiating. Burial will follow at Elan Memorial Park. Family will receive friends from 10:00 am until time of service at the Church.
