Irene C (Clements) McVey

Irene C. McVey passed into paradise on Monday, February 21, 2011 from complications of a long illness. Born October 25, 1927 in Philadelphia, PA, a daughter of the late Daniel and Katherine Clements. Irene is a graduate of West Chester State College. Irene, Walter and her family were long time Columbia County and Millville residents where Irene substitute taught primary education in the Millville Area School District. Irene also served many years in Columbia County as Horse and Pony club 4H leader with her husband and later served the Dairy 4H club where she mentored Dairy Bowl competitors. Irene loved the children that she taught, and she spoke of them frequently throughout her life and her illness. She is preceded in death by her husband, Walter R. McVey. Irene is survived by sons David M. McVey of Fleetwood, PA and Walter R. McVey, Jr. and wife Amy of State College, PA, two grandchildren, Shannon Focht and husband Jeremiah of Warriors Mark, PA as well as Ryan W. McVey and wife Michelle of Glen Burnie, MD and one great grandchild Isaiah D. Focht also of Warriors Mark, PA. A private service with family and friends will be held at Bunnell Funeral Home in Millville, PA followed by committal at the Friends Cemetery in Millville on Thursday, February 24. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the charity of your choice.
