Jean Hawk Obituary
Jean A. Hawk 91, of Bloomsburg, went to be with the Lord, Sunday February 2, 2020, at The Gardens at Orangeville. Jean was born April 11, 1928, in Shamokin, a daughter of the late Archie and Dorothy (Leiser) Kehler. She lived in Mt. Carmel until 1956 when she married Ralp B. Hawk, Jr. and moved to Bloomsburg.
She was a graduate of Mt. Carmel Sr. High School class of 1946. She was a member of the National Honor Society and graduated in the top 15 of her class. She was also a member of the cheerleading team for the Red Tornado Football Team during her junior and senior high school years. She belonged to the First Presbyterian Church in Mt. Carmel where she was a choir member and an officer for several years. She was married in that church.
She was married for 63 years in May. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Espy. Jean worked at department stores part time while raising her family. She was a post mistress in Espy for several years. She also worked at Ritters which became Eppleys in Bloomsburg.
Jean is survived by Ralph her husband of Espy, son Randy and partner Bill O'Hanlan of Berwick, daughter Patricia Cool husband Randy of Sugarloaf, three grandchildren; Angie Markle of Berwick, Jeremy Hawk of Winston Salem, NC, Chris Hawk of Berwick, two step granddaughters; Alicia Eggler and Ashley Cool, four great-grandchildren, and nine step great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother Robert Kehler Jr. and a sister Lauretta Scicchitano.
A celebration of life will be held Thursday February 6, 2020 at 11:00 am at the Rodger T. Bunnell Funeral Home, 435 Market St., Bloomsburg with her pastor, Pastor Kelly Kocher-Ross officiating. Burial will follow at Elan Memorial Park. Family will receive friends from 10:00 am until time of service at the funeral home.
