Jeanne Louise Brobst Schreck, recently of Lewisburg via Rohrsburg, and originally of Norristown, Pennsylvania, died on July 9, 2011. She was born a long time ago. A long, long time ago. Jeanne enjoyed telling stories of her childhood adventures with her father during the Great Depression. The tough lessons learned during the Depression and World War II served Jeanne well during her life, providing her with much advice and earthly wisdom, which she was always happy to share. She and her husband, Harry, were married for over fifty years. They had three children, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jeanne was an expert in many areas and particularly enjoyed instructing her sons-in-law on many varied topics. Her greatest joy was sharing her love of nature, which she eagerly passed on to anyone willing to learn. Jeanne was an avid collector of neat things others had lost interest in. To her children, she was a reliable and solid foundation to lean on in tough times. To her grandchildren, she was a fountain of learning and generosity, and usually an easy hit for ice cream and treats. To all her family, she was a source of love and support. Jeanne was the rarest of creatures- a moderate Republican. For her, compassion was an action, not a slogan. She never failed to offer a hand to those in need, be they human or animal. She believed there was no such thing as being generous to a fault and urged us always to be mindful of the poor. At her request, there will be no viewing or service. If you want to remember her, say a nice word to someone in need of a kindness. Jeanne's ashes will be scattered amongst the trees and birds she loved so well. Next time you hear a bird sing, think of her. Her voice should be much improved. Friends may send condolences to bunnellfuneralhome.com
