John Alan Deeter, 69, of Benton passed away Sunday March 8, 2020 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. He was born July 25, 1950 in Bloomsburg, a son of the late Hurley and Grace (Johnson) Deeter.
He graduated from Bloomsburg High School class of 1969 and then joined the United States Army serving in Alaska. John later graduated from Williamsport Area Community College with a degree in Forest Technology. John was employed by the Pennsylvania State Game Commission as a forester until his retirement. John was a avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Central.
John is survived by three sisters: Mollie Benshoff husband Gregory of Millville, Victoria Pohl of Cross, SC, Margaret Reed husband Robert of Danville; nieces and nephews: Mary Pohl of Baltimore, Elizabeth Reed of Danville, Jared Benshoff of Pottsville, Michael Pohl of Allison Park, PA, Micah Benshoff of Catawissa, Christopher Reed of Danville, and many great-nieces and nephews, many cousins, two aunts; Sonia Deeter of Bloomsburg, Joyce Curfman of Orangeville and a uncle Herbert Good of Bloomsburg.
John was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Paula (Brown) Deeter.
Services will be at the convenience of the family.
