John Phillips Obituary

John Ed Phillips Sr., 85 of Bloomsburg, passed away Sunday, January 6, 2013 at Sun Home Hospice Care Center, Sunbury, Pa. He was born February 6, 1927 in Rohrsburg, a son of the later Walter and Mayme Shaffer Phillips Sr. He attended Benton High School. He served in the United States Army during WWII. Then he worked for Turner Microphone for over forty years in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was preceded in death by a grandson Dalton Holub and granddaughter Kellie Dykstra who passed away in 2012 and a brother Walter "Bud" Phillips and three sisters Louise Robbins, Pauline Roberts and Dorothy Ruckle. He is survived by a son John Phillips Jr. and his wife Nora of Bloomsburg, a daughter Lou Ann Martucci of Bloomsburg, his best friend and caregiver Barbara Albertson and a daughter-in-law Lynette Macie of West Branch, Iowa and seven grandchildren Joshua Phillips, Melissa Phillips, Laura Phillips, Amber Holub, Brad Holub, Chase Kinney and Britni Phillips and four great grandchildren Kellen and Lynzi Dykstra and Dylan and Danielle Holub and a sister Betty "Sue" and her husband Bill Steadman of Arizona. Services will be Thursday at St. Mathews Lutheran Church 123 Market St. Bloomsburg, Pa 17815 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Joel Zeiders officiating. Burial will be at Millville Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 1:00 pm until the time of service.
