Joyce Johnson Obituary

Joyce E. Johnson, 78, of Millville, passed away Sunday, February 6, 2011 at Geisinger Medical Center. She was born May 30, 1932 in Bloomsburg, a daughter of the late Elvin and Violet Fausey Thomas. Joyce graduated from Bloomsburg High School in 1950 and received her R.N. license from Wilkes-Barre General Hospital in 1953. She was an OB nurse at Bloomsburg Hospital for 20 years and Boone Nursing Home, Orangeville Nursing Home and Bloomsburg Health Care. She also worked part time at Dr. Rowlands office. She loved to travel, was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She also loved spending time at her trailer in Rehoboth Beach. Many people knew her from the fair at the Top of the Beef and Top of the Salad. She was always willing to help anyone in need. She was preceded in death by her husband Clair Johnson who passed away in 1992, a son Kenneth Johnson and a daughter Sandy K. Johnson and a grandson Wade Johnson. Joyce is survived by two sons David E. Johnson and his wife Kathy, Scott L. Johnson and his wife Glenda both of Millville five grandchildren Nicole Solanki, Shane Johnson, Colten McHenry, Shelly Staley and Briget Carl and nine great grandchildren and a brother James Thomas and his wife Ruth of Bloomsburg and a sister Joan Reitmeyer of Berwick and several three nieces. Services will be Wednesday at 12:00 pm at Bunnell Funeral Home, Inc. 179 E. Main St. Millville, with Pastor Mark Shellenberger officiating. Burial will be at Derrs Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 10:00 am until the time of service. Friends unable to attend may send condolences at bunnellfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made in her memory to the Benton Assembly of God Church Route 487, Benton 17814.
