Karen A. (O’Brien) Brenchley of Bloomsburg, passed away Monday, Oct. 7, 2024, at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, following illness at the age of 74.
Born on Sept. 12, 1950, in Manchaug, Mass., she was the daughter of the late John and Katherine (Kacur) O’Brien. In addition to her parents, Karen was preceded in death by her brother, John O’Brien, of Lightstreet.
Karen was a beloved wife, mother, sister and friend to many. She graduated from Central Columbia High School and enjoyed diversified careers at Dillons Floral, Ames Department Store, District Justice Donna Coombe’s office, Columbia County Adult Probation, Bloomsburg PATH, and Weis before entering retirement. Karen was also a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the American Legion.
She was an avid fan of Notre Dame football, a coffee connoisseur, enjoyed family picnics, dancing and gardening; however, her greatest attribute was her love of family.
Karen is survived by her husband of 24 years, Frank Brenchley, of Bloomsburg; daughters: Theresa (Ron) Swank of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Bonnie (Matthew) Williams of Catawissa; a son, Andrew Shoop of Las Cruces, N.M.; a stepson, Jeffrey (Jennifer) Brenchley of Indian Harbour Beach, Fla.; seven grandchildren: Tristan and Thomas Williams, Nicholas and Autumn Watts and Derek, Marc and Kyle Brenchley; brothers: David O’Brien of Lightstreet, Thomas O’Brien of Orangeville, Robert (Glenda) O’Brien of Dunmore; a sister, Margaret (O’Brien) McHenry of Lightstreet; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Friday, Nov. 15, 2024, at 11:30 a.m. at the Rodger T. Bunnell Funeral Home, 435 Market St., Bloomsburg. with the Rev. Mike Spangulo, of Catawissa Christian Church, officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Friends and family may send online condolences to bunnellfuneralhome.com.
