Kenneth A. King

Kenneth A. King, 83, Millville, passed away October 9, 2010, at 11:17 pm, at his home with his daughters by his side. He was born August 24, 1927, in Bloomsburg, a son of the late Roy T. and Mildred (Moyer) King. Ken graduated form Bloomsburg Schools in 1945 and then joined the US Navy and was discharged as a Yoe Man 3rd Class. He worked at Weis Pure Food Stores from 1943 until 1945. He was a bank teller and installment note teller at the First National Bank, Millville, Pa. In 1948 he became an employee, then agent of the Mutual Fire Ins. Co., later name changed to Millville Mutual Ins. Co., Millville, Pa until 1973, when he formed Kenneth A. King Agency, until 1989. He entered into semi-retirement and then full retirement in 1992. He has been affiliated with the insurance company as an agent, director until this time. He was the secretary and treasurer of the Northeast Group Insurance Company's for 40 plus years. In his early years he was a member of the former Church of Nazarene of Bloomsburg, where he was a member of the choir, Sunday School Superintendent, director of vacation bible school, and treasurer of the church for nearly 50 years. Later he joined the Christ Wesleyan Church of Milton. He also was a member of the Greenwood Township School Board, later changed to the Millville Area School District, for 22 years, on the CSIU board and treasurer. Also was appointed and later elected as auditor of the Greenwood Township until present. Ken was a gardener and a collector of various collectibles. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mattie Jane King, who passed away August 4, 2010. Ken is survived by two daughters Kathy Ann and her husband Keith Griswold, of Rochester, NY, Jan Maree and her husband Daniel McCarty of Millville, four grandchildren; Kelsey and Kyle Griswold, Cassandra and her husband Michael Heaps and Lindsey McCarty, two sisters Dorothy Robbins of Bloomsburg and Nancy Jones of Berwick and several nieces and nephews. Services will be Thursday at 10:00 am at Bunnell Funeral Home, Inc. 179 E. Main St. Millville, Pa with his pastor, Bud Rutherford, officiating. Burial will be at Elan Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
