Mabel Polk Obituary

Mabel I. Polk, 85, of Bloomsburg, passed away Thursday, July 26, 2012 at Vintage Knolls in Danville. She was born December 3, 1926 in Jerseytown, Madison Township, a daughter of the late Bruce and Annie Conard Weatherill. She attended Jerseytown Schools. She worked at Milco from age 18 until she retired at age 62. She is a member of the First English Baptist Church of Bloomsburg. She was a member of Tops 759 for twenty-three years that met at the Bloomsburg Fire Hall and she also belonged to the Moose and Elks. She enjoyed bowling, bingo and crocheting. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her husband Clayton Polk who passed away May 2003 and a son Arden Polk and five sisters Laura, Bertha, Ruth, Margie and Mariam and six brothers Stanley, Ralph, Alan, Albert, Chester and Elmer. She is survived by a niece Patricia and her husband Thomas Gearhart and a great niece Danielle and her husband Jamie Ruckle and their son JJ and great niece Nadeen Roberts, and a niece Trudy and her husband Scott Strobel and their three daughters Kristy and her husband Fred Bodman and their children Gavin and Madeline, and Brittney and Deserae and a nephew Ray Weatherill and his wife Gail and their two daughters Libby and Abbey and a niece Kim and her husband Larry Flook and a great nephew Mark Atherton and his wife Becky and their daughter Bailey and several other nieces and nephews. Services will be Wednesday at 10:00 am at First English Baptist Church 700 Millville Rd, Bloomsburg, with her Pastor Dr. Lee Barnhart officiating. Burial will be at Elan Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Rodger T. Bunnell Funeral Home 435 Market St. Bloomsburg.
