Mae Albertson Obituary

Mae J. Albertson, 92, passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2024 in Lady Lake, Florida. The daughter of the late Raymond and Flora (Entz) Schultz, Mae was an extraordinary woman who loved her family, believed in giving back and having fun.

Born July 10, 1931, Mae was a member of the Hughesville Class of 1948 and attended every 5-year reunion up to her 75th. She also attended Lycoming College and served in the Women’s Reserve Auxillary of the United States Navy. Mae was heavily involved in the Boy Scouts, alongside her sons and earned the Silver Fawn, the then-highest award given to a woman in Boy Scouts. She served as the 1st Chairman of the Board for the Little Fishing Creek Swimming Pool and was a member of the Elks, the Moose and the Auxillary of the 40 and 8 club. Mae was also very active in the Ladies Auxilliary of the American Legion, having held multiple offices. She was a lifetime member of the Arthur Bardo Post 564.

Mae retired from Milco and moved to Florida in 1989, where she later worked part-time for American Greetings. She was a member of St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Millville and later, a member of Lady Lake United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, Mae was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years Glen (Baldy) Albertson, whom she wed January 11, 1951, her brother Charles Schultz, sister Rhoda Boatman and her great-grandson Dante Andreacci.

She is survived by her sons: Ray (Donna), Harrisburg, Dave (Donna), Orangeville, Ed (Candy), Orangeville, George, Millville and Jim, Lady Lake, Florida. She is also survived by her granddaughters Keri Shively (John), and Stephanie Andreacci (Joseph) of Bloomsburg and Jessica and Ashley Albertson of Watsontown plus 5 great-grandchildren: Olivia Gaito, Dallas Texas, Cameron Gaito, Daniella, Viviana and Francesca Andreacci, all of Bloomsburg.

Mae was an avid sports fan -particularly enjoying Penn State Football, the Boston Celtics and later, ‘her’ Orlando Magic. She loved to travel, golf and play cards and was an accomplished bowler, having rolled several 600 series. She was sharp as a tack and worked Soduko puzzles each evening. Mae was a sucker for a good cause and donated whenever she could. Her great grandkids knew they could always find their Grammy Moey, sitting at ‘her perch’ reviewing her blood pressure numbers or administering her eye drops. All who knew and loved her will remember her for her feisty spirit and generous and loving heart.
