Mark Shaffer Obituary

Mark Emerson Shaffer, 86, of Bloomsburg, heart was with Jesus for some time now and today March 26th 2021 his soul joined his heart in heaven. He was born September 7, 1934, in Mandata in Lower Northumberland County, a son of the late Lee E. and Christiana (Bohner) Shaffer.

He graduated from Mahanoy Joint High School.  Mark served two year in the United States Army, and then six years in the Army Reserves. He received a trophy for a photo while in the Army. He worked construction in his younger days and worked for Geisinger Food Service for 21 years retiring in 2011. Mark was a quiet gentle man that loved everyone especially his family. He was an avid photographer who loved capturing God's beauty in nature taking pictures of everything God showed him. He wanted to walk the trails and take all the pictures he could. He was a member the Bloomsburg Christian Church and Bloomsburg American Legion Post 273.

Mark is survived by his wife, the former Marilyn (Harner) Shaffer whom he celebrated 58 years of marriage, son Thomas Shaffer and his wife Lori Lee of Wilkes-Barre, daughter Melinda Matthews and her husband Darrell of New Mexico, four granddaughters Reba Shaffer, Anna Marie Shaffer, Anikah R. Matthews and Christine Slack Matthews, and great grandson Theodore Thomas Solt.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Timothy Shaffer, brother Lee Shaffer, sister-in-law Romayne Shaffer, and brother-in-law Lester Harner.

Services will be, Thursday April 1, 2021 at 11:00 am at Bloomsburg Christian Church, 107 Deussen Dr. Bloomsburg Pa. 17815, with his pastor, Pastor Eric Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Church of God Cemetery Valley View. Family will receive friends at the Church from 10:00 am until time of service.

In lieu of flowers contributions in Mark’s memory may be sent to Bloomsburg Christian Church.
