Mary Ruth (Stadler) Houck

Mary Ruth Houck, 87, of Bloomsburg passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at Vintage Knolls Assisted Living facility.

She was born on September 7, 1937, in Bloomsburg, daughter of the late Wilbert W. Stadler, Sr. and Margaret (Brooking) Edwards.

She graduated from Bloomsburg High School in 1955. She worked at Milco Industries prior to her employment at the Bloomsburg Hospital, where she retired in 1999 with 21 years. She enjoyed camping, traveling across country to visit her sons and their families, attending Silver Sneakers and meeting former co-workers for breakfast.

Mary Ruth was a member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, Bloomsburg, for more than 60 years. Prior to moving to Vintage Knolls Assisted Living Facility, she lived at her home on Millville Road from 1968-2023.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Glenn R. Houck, in November 2022; infant daughter Darlene Mumper, as well as her brother Wilbert (Sonny) Stadler Jr., step-father Thomas (Reber) Edwards, and stepdaughter Diane Showers and husband Dan.

Mary Ruth is survived by two sons: Neil W. Mumper Jr. wife Bonnie of Chambersburg, PA, Jeffrey Mumper wife Kathy of Henderson, NV; and two stepsons: Edward Houck wife Barb of Selinsgrove, PA, Walter Houck wife Annette of Milton, PA. She is also survived by two granddaughters, Amy Mumper of Wilmington, DE, Vanessa Batts of San Antonio, two step-grandsons: Ethan Showers of Millville, PA, Garrett Showers of Bloomsburg, PA, two great-grandchildren, and two step-great-grandchildren.

Services will be held on Thursday August 21, 2025 at 11:00 am at Rodger T. Bunnell Funeral Home, 435 Market St., Bloomsburg, PA, 17815. Burial will follow at Elan Memorial Park. Family will receive friends from 10:00 am until time of service at the funeral home.
