Robert Dean “Bob” Gordner,81, of Millville passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 27, 2025 at his home, surrounded by family.
Born April 21, 1944, at home, in Millville, he was a son of the late Grant I. and Lois I. (Kline) Gordner.
Bob graduated from Millville Jr. Sr. High School in 1962 and furthered his education at Williamson Trade School. He was a man of many talents, which he put to good use as the owner and operator of Pine Area Mushroom Farm. His industrious spirit also led him to a fulfilling career at PPL, where he spent 37 years working as a heavy equipment operator and retired as a material handler.
Bob was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Unityville, he lived his Christian values every day, inspiring those around him through his actions and his favorite saying, "Spread a little corn," a metaphor for his belief in the power of kindness. Bob's interests were as varied as his talents. He loved his horses, woodworking, golfing, gardening, and farming with his brother, Dale. Most of all, Bob was a family man and loved spending time with his family.
Bob's love for his wife of 62 years, Dorothy P. "Dotty" (Ploch) Gordner, was unwavering. Together, they raised three children; Jeffrey D. Gordner (Lee) of Bloomsburg, Kevin D. Gordner (Sherry) of Orangeville, and Robyn D. Gordner (John Pratt) of Schuylkill Haven. His legacy continued to grow with his six grandchildren, Jeremy (Julianne Gay), Jered (Kristey), Brett (Janel), Brandon (Jessica), Lydia (MacKenzie Benner), and Jasper Pratt, and six great-grandchildren, Aliyah, Emmett, Raymond, Carter, Hailee, and Lilee Gordner.
Bob's brother, Dale Gordner (Faye) of Millville, survives him, and he is fondly remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson Robert Gordner, and siblings Paul Gordner, Ruth Meckley, Donald Gordner, Grant Gordner, Jr., Betty Gordner, and twin infant sisters, who all welcomed him into eternal rest.
A funeral service to honor the life of Bob will be held 11 a.m. Friday, January 2 at St. John Lutheran Church 68 Gordner Church Rd., Unityville with Pastor Ronald Montgomery officiating. Burial will follow in Gordner Church Cemetery, Unityville. A viewing will be held 10 a.m. until time of service at the church.
