Robert "Bob" M. McCarty

Robert “Bob” M. McCarty, 86, of Millville passed away on Sunday April 16, 2023, at the Garden at Orangeville. He was born December 24, 1936, in Bloomsburg, a son of the later Jesse L. and Sara Elizabeth (Welliver) McCarty.

He graduated from Millville High School class of 1955. Bob worked at TRW until it closed making turbine blades, also worked at PPL Nuclear Plant, Kahler Tretter-Ceilings, and he hauled milk with Charlie Crawford. Bob raised Hampshire sheep until 1972 and duroc pigs. He was president of the Sheep and Wool Growers Club. He was a 4-H Leader for the Jerseytown Community Club and the Dutch Hill Tractor Club. Bob was a member of the Millville School Board and the White Hall Baptist Church.

Bob is survived by four sons: Gerald McCarty wife Joyce of Orangeville, Daniel McCarty wife Jan of Millville, Douglas McCarty wife Trish of Effert, Stephen McCarty wife Melinda of Benton, six grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents as well as his wife the former Janice Wintersteen who passed away on March 29, 2009, and grandson James “Slim” McCarty who passed away in 1999.

The family would like to thank the Gardens at Orangeville and Commonwealth Hospice for their great care.

Services will be Wednesday April 19, 2023, at 10:00 am at White Hall Baptist Church, 699 White Hall Road, Danville, PA, 17821. Burial will follow at White Hall Cemetery. Family will receive friends Tuesday April 18, 2023, from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the Bunnell Funeral Home Inc., 179 E. Main St., Millville.
