Robert “Bob” Weaver Obituary

Robert “Bob” Carl Weaver, 85, of White Hall Road, Bloomsburg, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, May 8th, 2025.

Bob was born on October 3rd, 1939, in Danville, son of the late John “Cube” and Dora (Minnick) Weaver.  He was a graduate of Danville High School.  He married his wife, the former Ella Mae Frey, on June 1st, 1963.  He enlisted in the Army in 1963,and the newlyweds moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado, where he was stationed at Fort Carson.  After his military service ended in 1967, the couple returned to Pennsylvania, where Bob worked for over 30 years as an Offset Photographer for Haddon Craftsman in Bloomsburg, retiring in 2000.

Bob was an exceptional athlete in his youth and could often be found on the basketball court at the Washies Playground in Danville, or on one of the local baseball diamonds around the area.  He was a three-sport athlete in high school, excelling in baseball, basketball and football.  During his twenties and thirties, he continued to play baseball for the Jerseytown J’s of the North Branch League.    He was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles, and the Penn State Football and Wrestling teams.  He was a dedicated and loving father and grandfather, and could always be counted on for a game of catch or some pitching and hitting lessons.  

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, the former Ella Mae Frey; two sons:  Michael R. of Mechanicsburg; Robert J. and his wife, Charmaine of Bloomsburg; and a daughter, Amy C. Grube of Millville; six grandchildren:  Madison and Lindsay Weaver of Mechanicsburg; Cody and Christopher Weaver of Bloomsburg; and Gray and Sean Grube of Thurmont Maryland; two step grandchildren:  Luke Klingler (and his wife Jordan) of Williamsport and Lance Klingler of Williamsport; and one step great grandchild; Blakely Klingler, as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Jim “Cube” Weaver, Gerald Weaver, Paul Weaver and Jack Weaver; a sister, Frances Meyers; and a half brother, Earl Huff.
