Ruth "Elaine" (Sweeney) Harvey

Ruth Elaine Harvey, 94, of rural Millville went to Heaven to join her family on December 29, 2025. She was born April 20, 1931 in Bloomsburg, a daughter of the late Lawrence and Sarah (Bardo) Sweeney. Elaine was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

She graduated from Millville High School class of 1949 and worked at several sewing factories. In her earlier years she enjoyed raising pigs on the farm with her husband Amos. Elaine looked forward to getting her paper every morning so that she could do the word searches. She was a talented doily maker, crocheting them and giving them away for gifts.

Elaine is survived by grandson Jeremy Zimmerman, two sisters-in-law; Norma Sweeney, Evelyn Carr, son-in-law Ronald Zimmerman, and caregiver and close friend Janelle Kapp.

Elaine was preceded in death by her husband Amos Harvey, son Amos “Punk” Harvey, two daughters; Darlene Zimmerman, Sharon Kressler, son-in-law Flint Kressler, sister Marcia Buck, and two brothers Scott and Arthur Sweeney.

Services will be Wednesday January 7, 2026 at 11:00 am at the Bunnell Funeral Home Inc., 179 E. Main St., Millville with Pastor Robert Strozyk officiating. Burial will follow at McHenry Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 10:00 am until time of service at the funeral home.
