(Jewel) Cicero of Dushore, PA,  Trish Ruland of Glens Falls, NY, and Michael Cicero of Riverside, PA.  1n 1978 the family moved to Millville, PA where they enjoyed the rural, picturesque setting for 43 years. Shirley was particularly fond of being a nurse, and in the 1980's decided to further her nursing education.   She graduated in 1987 from Bloomsburg University, earning the degree of Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and was inducted into Sigma Theta Tau, International Honor Society for Nursing upon graduation. Shirley was employed at Geisinger Medical Center as a Certified Mental Health Registered Nurse until her retirement.
Shirley was a devoted mother, and was very proud of her homemaking skills.  She was an excellent seamstress, and enjoyed raising, canning and freezing her family's food.  She was an exemplary marksman, and was an Endowment member of the National Rifle Association. Shirley developed an interest in amateur radio and worked diligently to successfully pass the testing requirements to achieve the ARRL Extra Class station and operator license, where she carried the call sign KB3TAX.  She was quite active in the Columbia Montour Amateur Radio Club where she served as the 2 meter Emergency Net Manager for many years. Shirley was a very familiar voice to amateur radio operators every Tuesday evening at 7pm.
