Shirley Jean Eves, 92, passed away peacefully at the home of her son and daughter-in-law on November 10th.
Shirley was a long-time resident of Greenwood Valley, the prettiest place around. Shirley, and her husband Dick were married March 27, 1954 and moved to their farm in the valley shortly after. They took pride in their farm where Shirley raised livestock including chickens, turkeys, steer, pigs and rabbits. Shirley never sat idle and worked tirelessly to keep her home and property in neat order. She enjoyed having her hands in the dirt and spent summers tending to her large garden growing many of her favorites including spring onions and fresh peas. In addition to raising livestock, Shirley’s home was the hub for the neighborhood kids where she helped to raise several generations of Greenwood’s finest. She believed that hard work and fresh air were good medicine for the body and soul.
Shirley was preceded in death by her beloved husband Richard O Eves (1994). She’s survived by her son James and his wife Dawn of Greenwood Valley, her granddaughter Andrea Ortman and her husband Brandon of Bloomsburg, granddaughter Autumn Gilmore and her husband Peter and grand-dog Murphy of Sinking Springs, and her great grandson Bryce Ortman of Bloomsburg. In addition to family she is survived by her close friends Sandi Hock and Linda Snyder.
Private services will be held for the immediate family as per Shirley’s request.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be submitted to UPMC Hospice and/or Camp Courage hosted at Camp Victory.
