Theodore W Gilbert

Theodore W. Gilbert, 88, of Bloomsburg, passed away Saturday, November 26, 2011 at his daughter home, under the care of his daughter and great granddaughter Desiree Huntington. He was born June 6, 1923 in Tharptown, Pa., a son of the late Donald and Verda Weiss Gilbert. Ted served in the United States Army during World War II, where he received the Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, and World War II Victory Medal. He belonged to the Bloomsburg VFW Post #804. He enjoyed wood working, being outdoors mowing and cleaning his car. He was preceded in death by his wife Lois Longenberger Gilbert who passed away April 5, 2004, two brothers Donald and Robert "Bobby" Gilbert. Ted is survived by a daughter Patricia and her husband Ed Howard Sr. of Millville, five grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren and a brother Keith Gilbert of Benton, and two sisters Gloria Herritt of Williamsport, Phyllis Runge of Bloomsburg. Services will be Wednesday at 11:00 am at Rodger T. Bunnell Funeral Home 435 Market St. Bloomsburg. Burial will be at Ikelers Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 10:00 am until the time of service. Friends unable to attend may send condolences at bunnellfuneralhome.com.
