Theodore Robert Bunnell, “Ted” 94, of Montoursville, formerly of Millville, Pennsylvania and Clearwater, Florida passed away Saturday, February 17, 2024 at his home. He was born on June 20, 1929 in State College, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Millard and Mildred (Musser) Bunnell.
He graduated from State College High School, class of 1947. He received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Penn State University in 1951 and 1955, respectively, in engineering.
Ted was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Keller Bunnell whom he was married to for 68 years, and together they had 4 children: Betty Bunnell of Tarpon Springs, Florida; John Bunnell and wife Patty of Odessa, Florida; Pamela Bunnell of Montoursville, Pennsylvania; and Rodger T. Bunnell and wife Grace of Millville; 13 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren, 2 great- great grandchildren, and sister, Nancy Franks, and her husband, Jay Franks, of Essex Fells, New Jersey. In addition to his wife and parents Theodore was preceded in death by his brother, Richard (Dick) Bunnell, and great granddaughter, Heaven Lee Keilman.
Ted was an active Penn State alumni and Nittany Lions fan. He loved attending the games when he could with his family. Ted worked for GTE Sylvania up until retirement. Upon his retirement, he bought Adams and Bogue, Inc., in St. Petersburg, Florida, where they made custom wood doors, moldings, and shutters. His community service included being on the board of directors of several banks in Florida, a past school board member in North Reading, Massachusetts, and a parishioner of Grace Lutheran churches. He and his wife, Tish, traveled extensively. Recently, his favorite past time was watching his great grandson, Logan Reed, play football and wrestle and watching his great granddaughter Hailey Reed in horse shows and showing her sheep.
Services will be held at 6:00 pm on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at Bunnell Funeral Home, Inc., 179 East Main Street, Millville, with Pastor Chris Dunlap officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family at Centre County Memorial Park, State College, PA. Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 pm until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may made in his memory to a scholarship to be established for a graduating senior from Montoursville Area High School continuing their education at Penn State University.
