Bloomsburg - Vickey L. Burgess (age 52), wife of Tom L. Burgess, died August 15, 2013 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, Pa. Mrs. Burgess died after a two year battle with cancer. Throughout her battle with cancer, she was an inspiration to those who knew her due to the courage she exhibited, her resolve to battle the disease, and the maintenance of her concern for others despite the pain she experienced. Vickey is survived by her husband of 25 years, Tom; her mother, one daughter Alicia Calvin and her husband Bryan Parkesburg,PA.; one step daughter , Heather Birdsell and her husband Jamie of Kansas; two stepsons Chad and Seth Burgess of Florida; her two sisters, Kirsten Castrilli of Northumberland and Ronda Goff of Montandon; her brother Steve Rieder of Shamokin; . Vickey had 12 grandchildren; Alana and Bryce Calvin of Parkesburg, Pa; Elijah, Claire, Laura, Erin and Christian Birdsell of Kansas; Payton, Morgan, Cole, Lily, and Madeleine Burgess of Florida. She is also survived by four nephews; Greg and Kevin Johnson, and Tyler and Alec Castrill. She was born March 24, 1961 in Dover, Delaware, a daughter of Grace Rieder of Northumberland and the late Joseph Rieder. Vickey had a pleasant nature which was appreciated by everyone who knew her. She loved people in general, but she had a special place in her heart for children. She enjoyed life despite being in pain often due to severe migraines in addition to other painful maladies brought on by her cancer. She had a contagious laugh and a great sense of humor. Children, flowers, and baby animals were favorites of hers. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Family and friends meant the world to her, and she would do anything to help others if she could. A memorial service for Mrs. Burgess will be Saturday, August 24, 2013 at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness 1014 West Street, Mifflinville, Pa at 1:00 pm. The memorial discourse will be delivered by Doyle Mille a minister in the Bloomsburg Congregation of Jehovah's Witness. Rodger T.
