Winifred Stackhouse Obituary

Winifred C. Stackhouse 92 of Benton Pa., entered into Our Heavenly Father's home Thursday August 30. 2012 at her home. With her family by her side. Born on January 24, 1920 in Berwick Pa., a daughter of the late Sterling Roy and Irene ( Benjamin) Slusser . She also was preceded in death by her husband Herman M. Stackhouse, a sister Anna Jean Yedniak, and brother-in-laws Dick Logan and Ronnie Eveland. Winifred retired from Millville High School in 1980 after 25 years of service as the cafeteria manager. She was a member of the Pine Center Church, being the oldest member and last charter member of the Pine Center Ladies Aid. A member of the Millville Senior Center, her beloved hobbies included crocheting, knitting, quilting, crafts and word puzzles. She also enjoyed fishing and traveling the world with her family. Winifred was a graduate of Shickshinny High School class of 1937. She is survived by two sons Richard M.( Nancy ) Stackhouse of New Holland, Pa. and Alan G. Stackhouse of Benton, a daughter Mrs. Vanice ( Robert ) Glidewell of Benton and four grandchildren Laurie Glidewell of Benton, Vickie Ann (Art) Laubach of Kapolei Hawaii, Jamie Glidewell of Bloomsburg and Mrs. Kristyn (Alan) Sorber of Campbell N.Y. and ten great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. One brother Sterling R. Slusser Jr. of Berwick and five sisters Jessie Church of Mifflinburg, Marjorie Eveland of Berwick, Erma Logan of Sunbury, Mary Lee ( Ed ) Kapsak of Denver Pa. and Yvonne (Ray) Weatherill of Coudersport Pa. and several nieces and nephews. Private family services will be held at the convience of the family. Burial will be at Pine Center Cemetery.
